I Eligibility


1. Competitions are open to all members in good standing.

2. All entries must have been taken by the competing member.

3. The entries may be processed by the entrant or commercially. The entry can

    be photographically or digitally processed.


4. Members need not be present at the competition for their work to be judged.

5. Any print is eligible for competition if it has not previously been entered into a

    Spring Hill Camera Club competition.


6. A print that has a score of 20 or lower can be redone and improved and entered

    in the next year's competition.


II Class of Members

1. There are two classifications of entrants:

Class A (A) - Experienced

Class B (B) - Entry Level

2. If a member comes from another club they will go into the class they were           

    assigned in the club.


3. A member may voluntarily change to a more advanced class.

4. Anyone who scores first place in class B will be advanced to Class A. All     

    categories that the entrant competes in will be at the new higher level.


III Competition Categories

1. Black and White Prints (monochrome) - Class A & Class B entrants.

2. Color Prints - Class A & Class B entrants.

IV Number of Entries

1. A member may enter a maximum of two entries in each category per monthly

    competition.


V. Print Entry Rules

1. A completed competition card must accompany each entry.

2. A completed SHCC competition label must be affixed to the upper left hand    

    corner, on the back of the print.


3. Print titles can be no more than 6 words.

4. Prints must be securely mounted on a mat board. Minimum print size 8 x 10

    inches.  Maximum mat board size 16 x 20 inches. No framed prints will be     

    allowed.


5. Prints cannot have a title or a creators name on the front of the image or mount.

6. Prints must be securely mounted on the mat board or it can be disqualified from

    competition.


7. Prints which do not comply with the above rules will not be allowed to compete.

VI Competition Judging

1. Competition judging will usually be performed by three club members or a single

    outside judge who will also critique the images.  If a single judge is used the score

    will be tripled.


2. A "0-9" scoring system will be used. Club members who serve as judges will score

   "0" on their own entries or entries of family members or images that they have 

   seen prior to the competition. The average score of the two remaining judges will 

   be applied to their point total. If this does not result in a whole number score, the 

   score will be rounded up to the next higher whole number.


3. Critique of the entries will be by someone other than the three judges.

VII Annual Awards

1. The competition year begins with the first competition in January and runs

     through the month of October.


2.  A year-end competition will be held at the first meeting in November, with outside

     judges to determine the annual Black & White Print and Color Print of the Year.


3. Up to four entries in each category will be allowed for each member. Prints must    

    have been entered during the current calendar year.


4. Awards will be presented at the annual banquet.


5. Awards will be given for first, second and third places for all categories in which 

   entrants have entered at least 10 images during the year.


6. Awards will also be given for the Monochrome and Color Print pictures of the year.


7. At the discretion of the board an additional category may be added.
